The "Going Google" secret comes out…

On August 3rd Google announced something very unusual for them – use of an Advertising Campaign. In 10 years Google became a $B company via mostly work-of-mouth referrals and being ever present on the Web. In the last 2 years they have expanded well beyond just “internet search”.

While many companies have used “Google Apps” for years, Google wants to spread the word further. Informing everyone from self-employed solo-practitioners to multi 1,000 person organizations know they can now run their organization using the same software Google uses to run theirs.

Here at Google, we have a term for the moment a company realizes there’s a better way and goes for it: “going Google.” Over 1.75 million businesses, schools and organizations have gone Google — including Motorola, University of Notre Dame, the Mercy Corps and many more — and each day, 3,000 more organizations join them.

So for the next month they will have a billboard campaign in 4 major metro areas: New York (my home town!), Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. Check out the 30 second video below.
